Associate Strategy role – Management Consultancy


Role outline

This role is ideal for someone creative, intelligent, self-starting, and inspiring looking to further develop their capabilities in a strategic role. The role requires the individual to develop insights into strategic writing, and combine their strategic thinking with project planning and building client relationships.

This is a role in a boutique management consultancy. They help organisations clarify why they exist and for whom. And how to make this tangible across every encounter.

Strategy development

Working to build strategy, and orchestrate project design and delivery.

  • Understand clients’ businesses – including key challenges and potential resolutions
  • Conduct appropriate research and investigation
  • Bring clarity to both strategy and context, and make recommendations for both
  • Simplify the complex and create a path for the future – through coherent communication of ideas
  • Brief and coordinate third-parties and collaborators


Commercial and new business

  • Support the development of new business proposals and pitches
  • Follow relevant sector and competitor information to stay abreast of market developments and opportunities
  • Identify, prioritise and convert new leads from both existing and new clients


Project and commercial management

  • Within the project direction set by the Partners, manage project scope, deliverables and responsibilities, prioritise work streams and manage the allocation of resources to ensure consistent delivery, on time, on budget and on brief
  • Ensure best practice in the design, management and delivery of all projects
  • Track and manage project scope, resources, budget and fees
  • Negotiate fees and additional fees if needed
  • Identify ways to increase the company’s profitability


Client engagement

  • Build and develop high level client relationships, gaining clients’ trust and respect
  • Develop stakeholder relationships during and beyond client project delivery to continually develop the profile as an authority and natural point of contact for purpose and brand expertise

  • Consumer brands (experience and services orientation – retail/hospitality/media/tech)
  • The arts, design and the power of the aesthetic
  • Politics and consumer/citizen trends
  • And, of course, business and brand thinking and strategy – purpose as a business driver



  • Ideally 5 years’ experience in brand, marketing, research or purpose related disciplines; with a solid understanding and appreciation of the value and role of purpose
